Another Great Meeting!

What’s so interesting? ....... a speaker who held everyone’s attention . . . the Piedmont Emergency Medical Services Director, Robert White, who gave us all a great deal to think about.

We all know how important it is to get immediate assistance for someone who’s bleeding from an injury, or having a heart attack or a stroke, or someone who’s a diabetic and has collapsed .... you call 911, right? But suppose you’re on the water when danger strikes, and not easily reached by emergency personnel?  You have to be able to stay calm and think fast to keep that person safe until help arrives or you can get him or her to shore.

Lt/C Mike Daly was recruited to be the “victim” for this demonstration as Robert    shows how to position a bleeding limb to slow blood flow.

The membership was very intent at this dinner meeting at Fire Bonz in Rock Hill ... and had many questions about what to do in a variety of emergency situations both on and off the water. We would encourage every Squadron to set up a similar meeting for their members. We all need to know how to act and react in times of trouble.  And as we were reminded, we all need to go get trained in CPR .... it could make a difference in whether someone lives or dies.

Many thanks to Robert White for coming out to enlighten us!  We hope we never have to use this information, but you just can’t beat the feeling that comes with knowing how to help someone who needs you!
