For more than 40 years hundreds of children from North & South Carolina are treated to a day of fun and recreation on Lake Wylie, made possible by fund-raising activities of the Catawba and Charlotte Power Squadrons. The children selected have not been as lucky as most children are today. Some have lost their parents, or are foster kids or abused kids, or kids who might have had a brush with police. Many have never been in a boat or even had a fun day at a lake.
The Squadron provides boat rides on Lake Wylie from Bowater Park in Little Allison Creek, swimming, fishing, and games. Wendy's has supplied all of the food and drinks, and provided workers to serve the food, which frees some of the funds of the Power Squadrons to do other good deeds. Thank you, Wendy's!
We have nearly 400 children participating who all have a good day and always ask us if they can come back next year.
